Every photograph on sorted.pics remains the copyright of the photographer credited beside it. sorted.pics does not acquire it, does not claim it and does not sell it on. What the site holds is a licence to store the file, to file it by show, designer and credit, and to display it, including through a share link.

The credit shown beside a frame is the photographer's own spelling. They set it themselves through their own link, which is exactly why it is the credit to reproduce and not one you should tidy up.

A share link is meant to be passed on. That is the product working as intended, and anyone holding the link can open the page.

Holding a link is not a transfer of rights. It gives you access to look at the work. What you may then publish is set out below, and it is the same whether the link reached you from the operator, from a photographer or from a colleague.

PressePress use

A journalist or an editor may reproduce a frame in reporting on the event it was taken at, in print, online or in broadcast, without a fee and without asking first, on two conditions:

• The credit is reproduced exactly as it appears beside the frame on sorted.pics.
• The photograph is not altered beyond ordinary cropping for layout. No retouching, no compositing, no removal of anything in the frame.

Anything outside editorial reporting needs permission first:

• Advertising, sponsored content, and brand or designer marketing.
• Packaging, print collateral and merchandise.
• Resale, sub-licensing and stock distribution.
• Any use that implies the photographer, a designer or a person shown endorses a product.

Ask at hello@sorted.pics. The permission is the photographer's to give, so the request goes to them.

The operator reserves the text and data mining rights in these photographs, under Art. 4 para. 3 of Directive (EU) 2019/790 and § 44b para. 3 UrhG. They may not be used to train, fine tune or evaluate machine learning models, and they may not be collected in bulk for that purpose.

A reservation in prose is the legal minimum and the weakest form of it. To have practical effect it also needs to be stated where a crawler reads.

A licence from the photographer is not permission to use somebody's likeness. Showing a recognisable person in advertising needs their own agreement, separately, under §§ 22 and 23 KUG and under data protection law. That is not something sorted.pics can give you on their behalf, and the press permission above does not cover it.

If you appear in a photograph and want it taken down, that route is on the Datenschutzerklärung page, with the timings the operator commits to. It does not run through this page and it does not depend on anything here.

The design, code, copy and structure of sorted.pics belong to the operator, [[LEGAL ENTITY NAME]]. The typefaces are licensed from their publishers and are not covered by anything on this page.

Write to hello@sorted.pics with the share link or the frame number printed in the corner of the frame, what you want to use it for, where it will appear, and for how long. The more precise the request, the faster the photographer can answer it.
